Why use a soil conditioner?

If your lawn and garden are showing signs of compaction, reduced nutrient availability and an increased dependence on chemicals, the reason is that your soil is out of balance.

The good news is that new technology is making it possible to rebuild these soils with far less effort than the old days of tilling, aerating, and dethatching.

Monty’s® Plant Food Company has offered farmers a soil conditioning product for years that has provided dramatic results on farm and pasture land. Now, that same technology is available for homeowners and gardeners to use on their lawns, flower beds, and in their gardens.

The damage to your soil is deeper than it looks
Across the country and through the seasons, lawns, gardens, and flower beds have been suffering from either extreme heat and drought or damage from flooding. None of that is news. What may be news is that the damage to the soil goes far deeper than the inch-wide cracks on the surface. The damage you can’t see may actually be far worse than that which is apparent. What also may be news is that now, there is something you can do about it.

Before we get to that, let's briefly explain what has taken place.

  1. The cracks you see are evidence that your soils have collapsed.  As the moisture evaporated it left behind empty pockets in the soil. These pockets could not support the weight of the soil and the soils simply caved in. These collapsed soils are now tight and compacted.compacted-dirt-white.jpg
  2. Your tight, compacted soils are now anaerobic (without oxygen) which has killed off many of the beneficial microorganisms that once populated the upper 8 inches of your soil profile. Those pockets were not truly empty, they were full of air.  Remove the pockets, remove the air. The combination of no oxygen and no competition often times leads to an explosion of harmful (anaerobic) bacteria and other micro-flora and fauna.

Bottom line, your soils are collapsed, anaerobic, full of harmful bacteria and generally inhospitable to plants. In fact, it may surprise you to know that every percentage point of organic matter you lost this year will lower your nitrogen levels by 20 to 30 pounds per acre, your phosphorous levels by 4.5 to 6.6 pounds, and sulfur by 2 to 3 pounds.

Monty’s Liquid Carbon Organic Soil Conditioner utilizes the same production technologies that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of other Monty’s products, such as Monty’s Liquid Plant Foods. The soil conditioning qualities of our processed humic substance are second to none.

Monty’s Liquid Carbon is a highly cost effective means of:soilhands-350.jpg

  • Enhancing the aeration of your soil
  • Reducing the compaction of your soil
  • Increasing the moisture retention of your soil
  • Assisting with breakdown of organic matter

Monty’s Liquid Carbon will also stimulate microbial activity in the soil. It can be applied to the soil in the fall or early spring, or as necessary throughout the season.

It's organic!
Derived from 100% natural elements, Liquid Carbon is completely safe and non-toxic for use in all lawn and garden applications.Listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.  omrilisted-black.jpg

It practically does the work of hoes, forks, shovels and rakes!

Often referred to as a "tiller on a hose," Liquid Carbon helps reduce compaction, increase air space in the soil, and improve drainage.

Like composting, only faster!
Liquid Carbon is immediately functional in the soil and results are visible in one season.  Use Liquid Carbon to help breakdown garden debris and organic matter.
